Ironing On A Carpet

You may be ironing quickly and the iron slips out of your hand or you set the iron onto the ironing board and it accidentally falls onto the carpet.

Rub it in with a stiff bristled brush and leave for 2 hours. When irons fall onto the carpet there are three different levels of burn marks that remain. Rewet the towel if necessary to prevent burning. Go from one end of the seam to the other.

Apply the iron to the towel moving slowly across the entirety of the seam. The carpet in our homes takes more wear and tear than any other part so it s worth the effort to fix problem areas. Sometimes the iron sits for only a second and the very tops of the fibers are damaged. Spray the stain with 2 tablespoons of ammonia in a cup of hot water.

Whether you accidentally dropped a hot iron or scorched it while working on iron on crafts there s not much you can do to remove the stain once the heat. Apply light pressure with the iron. Under the edges of the carpet place a strip of carpet seam tape.
